PET CONTEST RULES
Once the entry time closes, readers will vote on their favorite pets. Thirteen winners will be selected through the voting process to be featured in the 12-month calendar. The pet with the most votes will be featured on the cover. Thumbnail photos of all entries will be included in the back of the calendar.
5,000 calendars will be produced and donated to local nonprofit organization for distribution. These nonprofit organizations will be selling the calendars as a fund raiser. If you support a local 501c3 organization that would benefit from this fund-raiser, please have them contact us at (919) 829-4603. Calendars should be available by November 1, just in time for holiday gift giving.
How to nominate my pet?
Entries must be submitted through the website at www.triangle.com/contests with your $10 entry fee.
Only 1 pet per photo. Photos with multiple pets and/or people will not be accepted. All entries must be accompanied by the pet’s name, owner’s name, contact information and a brief paragraph about your pet. Good quality closes-up of your pet will reproduce best online, in the calendar and in any print ads in The News & Observer.
Entries accepted Monday, August 2 to Sunday, August 21.
How do I Vote?
First round of voting is August 22 through September 4.
Top 13 pets will be revealed on September 5 and voting for Cover Pet will continue from these 13 pets until September 11th.
Votes will cost 25 cents each for a pet with a minimum order of 20 votes ($5). No limit on how many votes an individual can cast for a pet. Ten Percent of all entry and voting fees will be donated to local pet rescue organizations.
Final winner will be announced online Monday, September 13.
What do I win?
The winners will be featured online through the holidays as we promote the calendar.
The top 13 pets will receive a professional photo shoot. One photo will be chosen as the one to feature in the calendar. You will also receive a free portrait from the photographer.
Winning pets must be available between September 13 and October 1 to meet with professional photographer for calendar photo shoot. It is the pet owner’s responsibility to make arrangements with the photographer and meet at the studio or at a location of the photographer’s choice. Pet should be clean and groomed for this glamour shot.
All 13 pets will be featured in The News & Observer on Sunday, September 19, with winning pet as centerpiece.
Contest Rules
Anyone under 18 must have a parent or guardian’s permission to submit an entry or to vote. By submitting your pet, this will be deemed as consent for the use of the entrant’s name and photo in The News & Observer and triangle.com and in all media for advertising and/or trade purposes without compensation. In accepting a prize, the recipient of the prize agrees to allow publication of his or her name with photo for further promotion of this contest and future similar contests in The News & Observer and triangle.com. By entering, participant releases The News & Observer and triangle.com, its affiliates, agencies and sponsoring companies from all liabilities for injuries or damages sustained in connection with the use of any of the prizes. Winners will be notified. All entries become the property of The News & Observer and triangle.com, which will be the sole judge of the rules. The News & Observer and triangle.com reserves the right to reject any submitted entry if photo is deemed unsuitable for publication due to content or quality. By participating in the contest, players agree to accept the rules. Winners must be available to be photographed locally between September 13 and October 1. All local, state, federal and other applicable taxes are the sole responsibility of the winner. Prizes are non-transferable. Contest void where prohibited by law. Employees of The News & Observer and triangle.com are ineligible to submit an entry. The News & Observer and triangle.com reserve the right to amend rules at anytime during the contest.
