You must be a legal US resident who is 18 years of age or older at time of entry to be eligible for this contest. Employees of The News and Observer, its respective parent, affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising sponsors and promotional agencies, and the immediate family members of each are not eligible. This contest is governed by these Official Rules and is subject to all applicable federal, state and local laws. Void where prohibited by law.
The News and Observer reserves the right to use any and all information related to the Contest, including information on contestants obtained through the Contest, for marketing purposes or any other purpose, unless prohibited by law.
Here's what you could win:
• Four upper level tickets to All-Star Skills Competition (1 prize)
• Pair of upper level tickets to All-Star Skills Competition (5 prizes)
• Four upper level tickets to All-Star Game (1 prize)
• Pair of upper level tickets to All-Star Game (5 prizes)
Total ARV of all available prizes to be won is $100. Terms and conditions of game tickets apply. Winner will not be given selection as to seat location. No transfer, refund, cash redemption, substitution or replacement of prize permitted, except that The News and Observer reserves the right to substitute any prize with another prize of equal or greater value. Any portion of the prize not accepted or unclaimed and/or unused by the winner will be forfeited and will not be substituted. Odds of winning depend upon the number of eligible entries received.
There will be a total of twelve winners and they'll be chosen in a random drawing.
Winners will be notified by email and/or phone, in Sponsor's discretion, using the information provided on the potential winner's entry form. If a winner is unreachable after 48 hours, or if that winner is unavailable for prize fulfillment, an alternate winner will be selected. If The News and Observer cannot find an eligible winner for the prize, that prize will not be awarded.
To claim prize, winner must complete a signed declaration of eligibility, prize acknowledgement and liability/publicity release form. Winner's guests or travel companions, if any, will also be required to execute and return a liability/publicity release in order for winner to claim prize.
The News and Observer reserves the right to restrict the local winners to only persons whose primary residence is within a 60 mile radius of the affiliate's' office.
Contest entrants agree to abide by the terms of these Official Rules and by the decisions of the contest commissioners, which are final on all matters pertaining to the Contest.
Entrants further grant to The News and Observer the right to use and publish their proper name and state online and in print, or any other media, in connection with the Contest.
By entering, entrants will be sharing their personal information with UPICKEM. Personal information collected by UPICKEM will be used for administration of the Contest and awarding the prize. In addition, by entering, entrants agree to UPICKEM's use of entrant's personal information as described in its privacy policy. Please refer to the privacy policy for important information regarding the collection, use and disclosure of personal information by UPICKEM. UPICKEM and Sponsors are not responsible for disclosures made by any third party. Entrants may subsequently opt-out of further contact as provided in the privacy policy.
The Contest and all of the related pages, contents and code are copyright, UPICKEM, Inc., and/or The News and Observer. Copying or unauthorized use of any copyrighted materials, trademarks or any other intellectual property without the express written consent of its owner is strictly prohibited.
By participating in the Contest, entrants and each winner agrees to release and hold harmless all Sponsors and their parent and subsidiary companies, their officers, directors, employees, agents, shareholders, affiliates, suppliers, distributors, and advertising agencies and NHL Enterprises, L.P., NHL Enterprises Canada, L.P., the National Hockey League, its member clubs, NHL Interactive CyberEnterprises, LLC and their respective officers, directors, employees, agents, successors and assigns (collectively, the "NHL Entities") from any and all liability for claims, actions, suits, fines or proceedings for injuries or damages (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from or in connection with preparation for or participation in the contest or the receipt, ownership, use or misuse of the prize or while traveling to, preparing for or participating in any contest-related or prize-related activity and for any claims or causes of action based on publicity rights, defamation or invasion of privacy and merchandise delivery.
UPICKEM and The News and Observer are not responsible for Internet crashes or slowdowns caused by network congestion, viruses, sabotage, satellite failures, phone line failures, electrical outages, natural disasters or acts of man or God. If Sponsors determine, in their sole discretion, that technical difficulties or unforeseen events compromise the integrity or viability of the Contest, they reserve the right to void the entries at issue, and/or terminate the relevant portion of the Contest, including the entire Contest, and/or modify the Contest and/or conduct a random drawing to award the prize from all eligible entries received as of the termination date.
Sponsors and the NHL Entities are not responsible for cancellations, postponements or delays for any reason with regard to either the All-Star Skills Competition or the All-Star Game, in which event the prize may be forfeited and no substitution will be provided except in the sole discretion of Sponsors.
Each winner is responsible for all federal, state and local taxes on their prize and will be required to complete an IRS form W-9. Sponsor reserves the right to withhold prizes until completed form W-9 is received.
This contest is not intended for gambling. If it is determined that a contestant is using the contest for gambling purposes they will be disqualified and reported to authorities.
The News and Observer reserves the right to change the rules at any time. For a list of winners, send a self-addressed, stamped envelope to: The News & Observer at 215 S. McDowell Street, Raleigh NC, 27601 by no later than January 27, 2011.
